Nancy Dameron Robertson

Nancy Dameron Robertson, age 82, passed away from COVID-19 complications on September 7th, 2021 surrounded by family. Always ready with a big smile and a hug, she will be profoundly missed by all her friends and family. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Wayne Robertson, son and daughter in-law Brad and Ashley Robertson, daughter and son in-law, Memoree and Tiger Emerson, daughter and son in-law Melissa and Gerry Hansen, 7 grandchildren Dylan Hansen, Kodell Emerson, Ellora Emerson, Graham Robertson, Ava Robertson, Oakley Robertson and Liam Robertson, niece Leslie Steinberg and nephew Richard Griggs and of course, her beloved Daschund, Rusty. Nancy was preceded in death by her loving parents John and Miriam Dameron, her brother Richard and sister Charlotte.

The family will receive friends and family to share in their grief on Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Wages Funeral Home, 1040 Main St, Stone Mountain, GA 30083. Please wear your masks and respect social distancing to keep everyone safe. Graveside funeral services will follow directly after on Sunday, Sept 12th, 2011 at 2:30 pm at Bethel Baptist Community Cemetery, 1147 Panola Road, Stone Mountain, GA 30088. Biography Nancy was born in east Atlanta on November 18, 1939 to two loving parents (Miriam and John) and an older brother, Richard and a younger sister, Charlotte. Her brother Richard was a pilot in the Marines and was tragically lost on a training mission in the Pacific Ocean in the 60’s. Her mom, Miriam was a beloved dietician in the Dekalb county school system. Nancy graduated as the Wittiest Female from Southwest DeKalb high school, Class of 1957. After high school, Nancy attended IBM technical school and quickly landed a job in data punch at Standard Oil (Amoco) and worked there for 20 years. As a woman in the computer industry, she was on the front lines at the dawn of the information age. The computers they worked on were the size of large rooms, not ones that fit on your lap, or in your hand. Nancy continued her later career with Goldkist, a poultry company working in the IT group that managed computer assets across their large organization.

Nancy married the love of her life, Wayne Robertson in 1973. Wayne brought with him 2 daughters (Memoree and Melissa) from a prior marriage, and she embraced the role of stepmother and loved them as her own. A year later, Nancy and Wayne welcomed their son (Brad) to complete the family. Wayne ran a successful brick masonry business and built many houses, commercial buildings, gates, fireplaces, etc., all over the Atlanta area.

The family lived in Lithonia, GA, entrenched in a beautiful home built by Wayne in the shadow of Stone Mountain. Their son Brad attended Stone Mountain Christian school. The family home became the gathering place for all family events. Nancy was devoted to her children, parents, and extended family her whole life. She enthusiastically curated holiday events and family fun activities, from picnics and dinners to many kid-friendly crafts, hobbies and events. Her and Wayne’s efforts created many long-lasting memories for everyone. Nancy lost her dad to a heart attack early in her marriage, but she and Wayne continued to support her mom living independently for many years. Late in her life, her mom moved into the downstairs apartment with Wayne and Nancy until her death in 2003.

The girls both married and had children. 1st grandson, Dylan is a musician and luthier and now 28. Memoree’s girls Kody (Kodell) and Ellora soon followed. Both are now in college. Brad married his wife Ashley in 2012 and now has 4 children, Graham, Ava, Oakley, and Liam who was just born in May 2020. They are Nancy’s greatest joy. Nancy’s husband Wayne was her constant partner and companion. Their separation upon her death is immense. He was her protector, co-conspirator, friend, and supporter. He and the children were her caregivers as she suffered from Alzheimer’s in the last few years of her life. She will be forever missed. Rest in Peace, Nana.
