Narendra Kumar Gupta passed away on February 26, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. Born on February 12, 1936, he lived a complete life marked by fortitude, perseverance, and joy. He left nothing unfinished.
He was utterly devoted to his family, bringing them to America in 1978 with the goal of securing a better life for his three children. And he succeeded beyond anyone’s wildest measure. He lived by example, both working so very hard for his family and also managing time for fun. Ask any of his family members, and they will regale you with stories of his ability to pull a fact about anything out of the air (he was the definition of a walking encyclopedia), his love of being a pilot in his youth (he flew his wife to different cities for lunch in India like the hidden romantic he was), and his acumen at Indian poker (he did NOT let the kids win — how else will they learn?).
Did we mention he was utterly devoted to his family? That never, ever changed. He was a strict father, but his children marveled at how much of a marshmallow he became with his grandchildren, who had him wrapped around their fingers and could get away with everything.
Narendra had a deep love for music, finding joy in classical Indian melodies. His compassion extended beyond personal interests, as he was devoted to animal welfare and child welfare, always striving to make a positive impact in the lives of others.
Narendra is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Vipin; as well as his three children, Rakesh (Vibha), Deepa (Steve), and Neeru (Randy); five grandchildren, Simran, Samir, Brendan, Jake, and Ben; and his faithful dog, Harley.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in his name to any of three charities that reflected his passions: LifeLine Animal Project ( https://lifelineanimal.org/donate-today/ ), Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta ( https://give.bgcma.org/campaign/619349/donate ), and the Atlanta Music Project ( https://atlantamusicproject.org/donate-to-the-atlanta-music-project-today/ ).
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Wages & Sons Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, located at 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy, Lawrenceville GA (https://www.wagesandsons.com/obits/narendra-kumar-gupta/).
May his memory bring comfort and joy to those who knew him.
