In Loving Memory of Nirmal Naraindas Mahtani
Nirmal, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the age of 81. He was a man who truly lived life to the fullest, pursuing the things he loved most including, traveling the world, savoring good food and spending time with family & friends. His motto was “Khaao, Piyo aur Jiyo”, which translates to Eat, Drink & Enjoy Life.
Born on March 11, 1943, in Hyderabad, Sindh, Nirmal was the second of eight children. His travels took him from Hyderabad to Poona to Ghana to Calcutta, then onward to Hong Kong where he worked at India Emporium before starting his own business. In 1994, the family moved to Bangkok and with his love for good food, he and his wife opened a successful Indian restaurant called “Dhaba”. Finally in 1998, he moved to Atlanta, GA, with his family, where he continued to pursue various business ventures and won multiple awards for his excellent salesmanship.
Nirmal leaves behind his wife Saloni, his son Dinesh (Dino), his daughter Varsha, son-in-law, Suresh and granddaughters, Inika and Keya; in addition to his extended family and friends scattered across the globe.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 31st at 10am at Wages & Sons Funeral Home located at 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy, Lawrenceville, GA 30046 followed by the start of Akhand Paath at the Rockbridge Gurudwara at 5pm the same afternoon. On Saturday, November 2nd, there will be Bhog at 5pm onwards, also at the Gurudwara.
