Ottley Freeman

Aug 29, 1954 — May 5, 2026

With deep love and reverence, we celebrate the life of Ottley Freeman Sr., born on August 29th, 1954, in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, who peacefully transitioned on May 5th, 2026 in Decatur, Georgia. Ottley graduated from the British Virgin Islands High School (now Elmore Stoutt High School) and began his professional career as an electrician before finding his true passion as a mechanic, a role he remained dedicated to until his retirement in 2016.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures of playing dominoes or solitaire, watching action movies, and spending his downtime working on cars. He also was a devoted football fan to the San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles. To know Ottley was to experience kindness in its purest form. He was patient, gentle, and a steadfast presence to all who knew him. His faith in the Lord guided his life (Psalm 23) and in times of challenge, his reassurance carried through his words: “This too shall pass”.

To his family, Ottley was everything, a devoted husband and a loving father, proudly known as “Dad”, “Father”, “Pops” or “Poppy”. Ottley was preceded in his death by his parents Olonzo Bobby Freeman and Leonora Frett Freeman, and his brother Ashford Freeman. He leaves to cherish his beloved wife, Dr. Noreen A. Freeman; his children, Tuanna R. Forrester (Sheldon Forrester), Ottley Freeman Jr, Mekeisha C. Freeman, Avé M. Freeman and stepdaughter Nyasha Brittany Hayes. He was a proud grandfather to Angelo Montijo, Shakimo A. Wheatley Jr, Dasan J. Freeman, Daeron B. Freeman and Deion Q. Freeman. He is also survived by his siblings: Ortis Freeman, Mona Lindquist, Ashley Freeman, Myrtle Freeman, Allen Freeman, Alford Freeman, Fred Freeman, and Orford Freeman.
