Patricia Cape Hayes

Patricia Cape Hayes passed peacefully on February 9, 2025. Mom (Gran) was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her husband of 65 years Grant, sons Mitchel (Kim), Gregory (Renita), grandchildren Katherine, Andrew (Kenzie), Erin (Luke) Hayes Hughes, and Gemma. Predeceasing her are son, Jeffrey, father and mother, Leonard and Sara Cape, brother Wyndol John Cape, sisters, Charlotte Shelton and Glenda Tolbert.

Pat was born on April 17, 1941in Athens, Georgia with strong family ties to Franklin County. She and her family moved to Buford, Georgia following World War II where she graduated from Buford High School in 1959. After marrying Grant later that same year, she became a dedicated home maker and devoted her life to encouraging and supporting her family. In subsequent years, she worked at Gwinnett Child Protective Services as secretary and lead IT officer. There will be a visitation and memorial service on or near her birthday in April.
