Patricia Fischer Moore

January 24, 1933 — July 14, 2023

Patricia Jean Fischer Moore, 90, passed away on July 14th 2023 in Lawrenceville, GA. She was born on January 24th, 1933 in a farmhouse in the rural community of Hudson, KS. She was the only daughter of Alvin and Marie Oncken Fischer. Her brother, Kenneth Fischer, preceded her in death.

Pat attended a very small high school with only 12 in her graduating class, 10 boys and 2 girls. As a young girl, Pat learned to play the piano and eventually the organ. She became the only church organist in her community as well as other churches throughout her life. She loved playing the organ for weddings and funerals as well. As a young girl she also played basketball and became the captain of the team. During this time, she also had many chores required of living on a farm. This included milking cows, feeding chickens and bedding the pigs. Over the years and into her adult life, Pat was also an avid lover of flowers and gardening.

After high school, Pat attended Sterling College, in Sterling, KS to become a teacher. In the spring of 1951, Pat signed a contract to become a teacher with a local school of 14 students of all ages.

In 1953, Pat met Neil Moore. He was an Air Force Sargent and was stationed in New Mexico. Their good friends, Rosalie and Ivan, fixed them up on a blind date. Pat worked as a teacher with Rosalie and Neil was in the military with Ivan. Pat and Neil married on June 9th, 1954 in Hudson, KS. They moved soon after to Knoxville, TN so Neil could attend the University of Tennessee. Upon graduation, Pat and Neil moved to Texas, North Carolina, New Jersey and eventually retired to Georgia, where all of their grandchildren lived at the time. Pat worked many years with Educational Testing Services in NJ and retired from there in 1995.

Pat and Neil became long-time members of First United Church of Lawrenceville, GA, and had many friends in their Joy Class.

Pat is survived by her three children, Lisa Moore Edmondson, (husband David, deceased) of Lawrenceville, GA, Mica Moore Livingston (husband Scott) of Cumming GA, and Brett Edwin Moore (wife Lynn) of Canton, GA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Rachel Whittaker (Allen), Travis Edmondson (Erin), Billy Haberstroh (Haley), Patrick Haberstroh, Brooklyn Moore, Carly Moore, and 3 step grandchildren, Justin Livingston, Meagan Livingston and Sarah-Grace Livingston.
