Peter Kokinda, Jr. (Pete), 91 years young, of Lawrenceville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022. A Funeral Mass will be held to celebrate Pete’s full life on Monday, December 19, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church located at 319 Grayson Highway, Lawrenceville, Georgia. The officiating minister will be Rev. Henry Atem. There will be a live-feed available for those unable to attend. See www.saintlaw.org . A private military burial will follow, Friday, December 23, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Georgia National Cemetery located in Canton, Georgia.
Pete is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dolores Kokinda, their four children, Debra Majors (Thomas), Karen Lyons (Wiley), David Kokinda (Carolyn), Kenneth Kokinda (Yohannys). Pete also loved and was loved by his six grandchildren and his ten great grandchildren.
Peter was born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania and was one of thirteen children to a first generation immigrant through Ellis Island. A proud American, Peter served our country in the United States Army as a Sergeant during the Korean War.
Peter retired in 1996 after a long and successful career in the oil industry. He worked for Hess Oil U.S. Virgin Islands on the island of St. Croix, while enjoying a full social life with his wife and children. Pete loved music, dancing, tennis and golf…always working hard and enjoying life to the fullest.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Peter’s honor to St. Lawrence Catholic Church where many ministries will have the opportunity to be blessed.
