Rachael Annette Fisher Carpenter passed away early in the morning of 12/28/2025 in her room at Benton House of Sugar Hill. She was 90, and had suffered from Alzheimer’s disease since the fall of 2021. Visitation will be held in the chapel at Wages and Sons funeral home (1031 Lawrenceville Hwy, Lawrenceville Ga. 30046) on Saturday 01/03/2026 at 1:00 pm, with the service following at 2:00 pm. Pastor Brian of First Baptist Lawrenceville will be officiating.
Rachael was born in Iowa City Iowa and raised outside Eagle Grove Iowa by Roy and Emily Fisher. She made good grades and was in the marching band. After high school, she moved to Washington DC and began work as a secretary/typist at the FBI. One day, she met a nice young man at a pool party. Rachael and Clif Carpenter were married on 06/02/1956, after a short honeymoon at Virginia Beach, they returned to Washington DC.
In 1963, Clif was with Southern Railway and was transferred to Atlanta. They moved to Clarkston, Georgia. Their daughter, Carol was born in 1965. In 1972 they moved to Stone Mountain.
Rachael worked as the secretary of the kindergarten at Clarkston Baptist church (where they were members from 1963 to 1997), while Carol was in elementary school. Later, she earned a degree from Dekalb Technical college and was a programmer/analyst with American software for many years.
Clif and Rachael travelled extensively before they retired, and more so after. They moved to Lawrenceville, and were active at First Baptist Lawrenceville for 25 years. They also worked at the polls for several election cycles.
Rachael was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 68 years. Hubert Clifton Carpenter. She is survived by her daughter Carol Carpenter Menders (Tom) of Sugar Hill Georgia.
Memorial gifts can be made in her name to First Baptist Lawrenceville, or the American Bible Society.
