Ralph Daniel Lindsey, 1946-2026
Ralph Daniel Lindsey, known to family and friends as “Dan,” passed away peacefully at his home in Stone Mountain, Georgia. He was seventy-nine.
Dan was born in July 1946, in Binghamton, New York, to the late Norma and Ralph Lindsey. Dan’s academic achievements began at Owego Free Academy and finished a computer science degree at Trine University. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Dan appreciated that his time spent in the military resulted in amazing care and medical services from the Veterans Administration.
After his military service, Dan spent thirty years working for IBM in Endicott, New York, as his father did before him. His first retirement had him chasing the sun and following his oldest son to Atlanta, where he worked as a programmer for a private software company in Tucker, and became an active part of his community. While living and working in Tucker, Dan, along with his third wife, became active members of the Atlanta-Northlake Elks Lodge and were dedicated to promoting the Lodge’s charitable programs. Dan served five terms as President, as well as a long-time House Committee Chair, Lodge Secretary, and valuable member of the ritual team. After his wife passed away in 2010, Dan met his fourth wife. It was at the Lodge on 11/11/11 that he married Suzy Kilgo , who survives him. They settled happily in a Stone Mountain Village duplex before upgrading to a comfortable home in the shadow of the mountain.
Dan suffered a debilitating stroke in July 2023 and worked hard on his recovery with long-term outpatient PT. He enjoyed going to the gym and working with the therapists who helped him during his time of need. At home, Dan was well cared for by his wife, with the help of dear family friends and VA caregivers. He was sincerely thankful for the loving care being at home required. Dan spent his final days welcoming friends and family to sit and visit with him Dan died in his sleep in the quiet morning hours of February 6, 2026.
Dan leaves behind his first wife and the mother of his two sons, who also came south to be close to the family; his two sons, strong and successful men who chose wisely in marriage and career; a blessed granddaughter, who gave him the gift of two great-grandchildren. He was proud of them all.
Services and interment for Ralph Daniel Lindsey will take place at the Georgia National Cemetery on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 10 a.m. 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, GA, 30114. Dan will be laid to rest with full military honors and an Elk Funeral. Memorial donations may be made to Elks Aidmore, Inc. in Conyers, GA
