Rao Vasireddy Obituary
Dr. Sivasankara Rao Vasireddy, age 84, of Lawrenceville, GA, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on December 22, 1940, in Chebrole, Andhra Pradesh, India, he lived a life defined by family, strength, academic excellence, kindness, and enthusiasm, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Rao was known for his sharp mind and lifelong passion for learning. His extensive education, including a PhD in Chemistry, and his determination brought him to the United States in 1977, where he completed a post-doctoral fellowship in analytical chemistry at the University of Cincinnati. He went on to build a successful career as an analytical chemist, dedicating himself to his work until retirement.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Rao embraced life’s simple joys. He loved game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and The Price Is Right, and enjoyed Telugu movies, with a particular fondness for their comedy scenes. He enjoyed a good game of rummy (especially when playing with his grandchildren) and cherished a daily routine filled with walking, coffee, and delicious food (nothing ever surpassed his wife’s cooking). He also valued staying informed, keeping up with the news in the United States, Andhra Pradesh, India, and around the world, which earned him the affectionate family nickname as our very own “News Network.”
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. His deep love for his family was evident in the strong, thoughtful relationships he built with his wife and daughters, and in the values and guidance with which he raised them. He shared a special bond with his grandchildren, always taking the time to listen to their goals, cheer on their accomplishments, and be an unwavering presence at birthdays, graduations, weddings, and every family celebration. Rao’s presence brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of home to all who gathered around him.
Rao is survived by his beloved wife, Premalatha Vasireddy; his daughters, Dr. Usha Kanakamedala and Mydhili Chalasani; his sons-in-law, Dr. Satish Kanakamedala and Dr. Prasad VRK Chalasani; and his grandchildren, Kalyan Kanakamedala, Meghana Chalasani, Dr. Ajay Kanakamedala, Dr. Sadhana Chalasani, Nishanth Chalasani, and Siri Kanakamedala, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him and strive to carry forward the values he embodied.
A service honoring his life will be held on Saturday, December 6th, at Wages & Sons Funeral Home in Stone Mountain, GA, at 9:00 AM EST. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate the remarkable life of a man who touched so many hearts.
Though he is no longer with us in person, the warmth of his spirit, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave will remain with us always.
