Robert Harold "Bob" Jones

December 8, 1943 — May 15, 2026

Robert Harold “Bob” Jones, age 82, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, in Lawrenceville, Georgia. He was born on December 8, 1943, in Washington, DC.

Bob graduated from Westside High School in Jacksonville, Florida, in November 1960. Shortly before graduation, he began working for Winn-Dixie in March 1960 before proudly enlisting in the United States Army in December of that same year.

Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1960 to 1966. During his military career, he was stationed in Guam, Alaska, and Germany, where he served with the 1st Maintenance Company, 8th Infantry Division. He was decorated as a Sharpshooter with the Rifle M-14.

Following his military service, Bob returned to Winn-Dixie, where he worked in refrigeration. He later joined The Kroger Company, where he began as a refrigeration service technician. Over his 35-year career with Kroger, he advanced into a supervisory role overseeing refrigeration installation teams before retiring. Bob was highly respected for his strong work ethic, problem-solving abilities, and willingness to mentor and help others throughout his career.

Bob will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, deep love for his family and friends, and his special affection for Dachshunds. He enjoyed fishing, photography, reading, and traveling — especially cruising with his beloved wife of 33 years.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, John Edward Jones and Dorothy Jones, and his brother, Randolph Jones.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carole Jones; his son, Thomas Bradley Jones and wife DeeAnn; his stepchildren, Denise Jira and husband Mike, and Mike Fieser; his brothers, Doug Jones and Richard “DJ” Jones; as well as five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside military service will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery, located at 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, GA 30114. The family asks that friends and loved ones join them in honoring and celebrating Bob’s life and service.
