Robert Joseph Pietruszka “Bob” passed away in the comforts of his home Monday, January 30, 2024 at the age of 79.
Bob was born in Baltimore, Md. in 1944 as the only child to Frank and Helen.
After graduating HS he went on to begin studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Md. He was a member of the U.S. Army stationed in Frankfurt Germany, after his stay in the army he graduated from John’s Hopkins University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
Bob’s career encompassed decades with the telecommunications industry particularly involving fiber obtic cables and equipment, helping to modernize the way the world communicates with voice and data to this day.
Bob married his HS sweetheart, Joan, in 1966. Together they took pride in their 3 children, Laura, Richard, and Paul.
Bob will forever be remembered for his warm heart and mild nature, they were tokens of his character. He never hesitated welcoming people into his home and enjoyed telling everyone his favorite stories of his children and grandchildren. He loved tennis and making lifelong friends that shared his passion for life.
Bob was predeceased by his parents Frank and Helen, his beloved wife Joan of 52 years, and his daughter Laura. He is survived by his sons Richard (Christina) and Paul (Kelly), and his grandchildren, Morgan, Kevin, Brett, Ryan, Aidan, & Bryce.
A Celebration of Bob’s exceptional life will take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the ALS Association.
