Rodney O’Dell, of Loganville, Georgia, passed away on March 23, 2026, at the age of 72. He was born on September 16, 1953, in St. Albans, West Virginia.
Rodney was a warmhearted, loving, and compassionate man whose presence brought comfort and joy to those around him. Known for being gentle, devoted, loyal, generous, and dependable, he also had a wonderful sense of humor and a handy nature that made him someone others could always rely on.
He was a proud graduate of St. Albans High School and continued his education at Gwinnett Community College. Rodney honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. Throughout his life, he built a strong work ethic through his roles with Air Deutz, Lombardini Diesel Engine, Global Equipment, William Scotsman, and later through his own self-employed home improvement work with Ace Hardware.
Rodney found great joy in woodworking and gardening, often using his talents to create, fix, and improve things for those he loved. He was someone who always put others first, never hesitating to lend a helping hand and never expecting anything in return. He would, as many said, “give the shirt off his back.”
To his family, Rodney was everything. He made them feel safe, loved, protected, appreciated, accepted, understood, cared for, and happy. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather who showed up for others without hesitation. He took pride in caring for those around him, whether through his cooking, fixing things, or simply being present. He made life easier and brighter for everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He is preceded in death by his son, Matt O’Dell.
Rodney is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene O’Dell; his sons, Benjamin O’Dell and Kyle O’Dell; his daughters-in-law, Shannon O’Dell and Tiffani O’Dell; his grandchildren, Brenlee O’Dell, Phoenix O’Dell, Mari Bartram, Layni Bartram, and Finli O’Dell; his great-grandson, Major O’Dell; and his brother, Randy O’Dell, along with many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
Rodney’s life was a testament to kindness, selflessness, and unwavering love. He truly was, as his family shared, “the most incredible thing in this world,” and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
