Roy E. Jones

Roy E. Jones III was born April 13, 1962 at Fort Dix in Fort Dix, New Jersey, while his father was stationed there as a Captain in the Army Dental Corps. He was the first child born to Anne E. Jones (née Greene) and Roy H. Jones Jr. Roy attended high school at Fox Lane High School in Bedford, New York (Westchester County). He went to college at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. He majored in Human Biology and joined Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. while there. After graduation, he worked at Procter and Gamble as a marketing manager. He then enrolled in graduate studies at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University where he earned a Master of Business Administration degree. Upon graduating with his MBA, he worked in financial services at Goldman Sachs in New York City and then at J.P. Morgan Chase in Chicago, Illinois before relocating to Atlanta, Georgia to help care for his mother until her death. While there, he began managing a Dollar Tree store near his mother’s residence and found community with his fellow associates. In his earlier years, Roy was dedicated to raising his children, helping coach their youth sports teams and cheering on their many academic and extra-curricular pursuits through their schooling years. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his two children, Natalie (Michael McWhorter) and Nicholas (Stacey Menjivar) Jones with former spouse, Tamara Fountain, MD, granddaughter, Camila Jones, sister, Faun Branch, brother, Peter S. Jones, and several cousins.
