Sau Truong, age 90, passed away peacefully in her home in Stone Mountain, Georgia on May 5, 2026. She was born on April 1, 1936 in Tra Vinh, Vietnam. Sau never had any formal education, but she was a hardworking self-taught woman.
At a very young age, she moved to Saigon, Vietnam with her sister to work as a Live-in Housekeeper. From there, she started a small local business selling congee, where she met her husband. When her husband signed up to fight for the Army of the Republic of Vietnam, she set up her congee business on the military base in Chau Doc. After their military life, they moved back to Saigon, and Sau started selling Vietnamese dessert soup. When she became the head of household, she started selling fabrics. Sau never stopped providing for her family, even when she moved to a new country in her 50s and had to learn a completely new language. She started a small babysitting business out of her home to help support her family.
Sau was a beloved mother, a caring grandmother, and a loving great-grandmother. She was the family matriarch and the family mediator. She enjoyed cooking and watching Asian drama TV shows.
Sau is survived by her children and their spouses: Nam Tran (Viet Pham), Nancy Le, Hung (Phuoc) Tran, Connie Tran (Dai Quach), David Johnson (Hong Truong), her grandchildren and their spouses: Sandy Tran (Mackie Luu), Ha Tran (Khoa Ho), Diem Tran (Hai Ngo), Kathy Le (Tu Nguyen), Haley (John) Marquez, Clinton Le, Kevin Tran, Kristy Tran, Anthony Tran-Ho (Jessica Pollack), Steven Tran-Ho, Justin Gurung, Eric Truong, Warren Truong, Ethan Truong, her great grandchildren: Hung Ho, Thu Ho, Ngoc Ngo, Sophia Ngo, Maylin Marquez, and her sister Nhan Tran.
In addition to her parents, Sau was preceded in death by her husband, Be Tran, nine children, and five siblings.
