Seaborn (Bud) Howard Hay
March 16, 1934 – January 31st, 2022
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 12th, 2022. Family will receive visitors from 11:00am-1:00pm. Memorial service will be held immediately following visitation in the Chapel at 1:00pm at Wages and Sons Funeral Home, 1040 Main St., Stone Mountain, GA 30083. Procession will follow after service to Eternal Hills Cemetery, Stone Mtn Hwy, Snellville, GA for graveside service.
Mr. Hay died Monday January 31st, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Stone Mountain, Georgia to the late Seaborn Howard Hay, Sr. and O’Dell Irene Mitchell Hay.
Mr. Hay was a well respected resident of Stone Mountain, Georgia for over 60 years and a proud Stone Mountain Pirate. Known as one of elite athletes in the State. Nicknamed by the AJC, “The Big Rock” from Stone Mountain, GA., where he excelled in Football, Baseball, Basketball and Track. Recruited in High School by UGA and GT for football, he ultimately signed with the St. Louis Cardinals minor league as a Pitcher.
Mr. Hay then went on to serve in the United States Army at Ft. Benning, GA.
Mr. Hay married his first true love Shirley Ann (Clack) Hay in 1959 and became a proud devoted father to his three children.
Loved the game of Golf, according to sources, won 7 “green jackets” at the annual Stone Mountain Invitational Golf Tournament held in Daytona Beach, FL for decades. Memberships at Mystery Valley and Summit Chase, where a golf course was his “home away from home” and time spent with golf buddies who fondly called him Semi or Dr. Death.
Mr. Hay retired from Kraft Foods with over 35 years of service and lived his remaining almost 30 years in Loganville, GA.
He was preceded in death by his loving and loyal wife of 42 years, Shirley Ann (Clack) Hay.
Also preceded in death by sisters, Lucy Mae (Hay) Mize, Bessie Rose Hay and Nancy Lee (Plummer) McElroy.
He is survived by his daughter, Catrina Gail Hay, Freeport, FL; son, Bart Howard Hay, Loganville, GA; daughter, Tracy (Hay) McIntyre and Randy McIntyre, Grayson, GA, grandchildren; Tiffany Nicole Daniel, Taylor Whitney Daniel, Kristie H. Hellmeister (Kristofor), Nicholas Seaborn Hay, Eve Elizabeth Hay, great grandchildren; Gracie Ann, Layla Layne, Maddox James, Brock Jace, Easton Alan, sisters; Bonnie Sue Hay Morrison, Janie Grace Plummer Pilgrim, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his last love and companion of almost 20 years, Terri Starr of Snellville, Georgia and her entire family.
Seaborn (Bud) Howard Hay, a Christian Man, and a life well lived.
