Shelma Marline “Shel” (Cook) Chafin, 82, longtime resident of Huntsville, Al laughed her last laugh at us on 2/20/2022. Loved ones that cleared the path for her are husband Maj. (ret). Harold W. Chafin, parents Frank & Inez (Latham Cook) Moore, sister Shirley Cook Bryant, brother Robert F. Cook, Sr. & partner in crime & fellow exercise class aficionado Anne DeVaney. Those of us still left are children Andrea “Andee” (David) Chafin Gay, Todd Brian Chafin, & Brett Christian Chafin. Grandmother’s grandchildren are Kelsey Gay & Dalton Gay; Alyson & Madilyn Chafin; Kyrsten (Cody) Johnson, Caty (Colby) Mooneyham while GG’s great-grandchildren are Kayleigh & Jackson Johnson. Shel was known for her keen sense of humor as well as her wonderful way with all kinds of needles – sewing needles, embroidery needles, and/or crochet hooks! She was an avid letter writer, expressing her strong opinions to many publications, with many of them being published. Her home-going service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 2 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville. Visitation will be Friday March 4 from 6-8 at Wages & Sons Funeral Home. She will be placed with her longtime Valentine (1st date 2/14/1959) “H-Double” at the National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
