Sherman Valentine White was born on February 14, 1942 to the late Johnnie White and the late Daisy Trotter White in Emporia, Virginia. 

Sherman completed grade school in the Greensville County Public School System, and graduated from Edward W. Wyatt High School in 1960. After high school, Sherman joined the United States Army. In May of 1965, he married his high school sweetheart, E. Florine Hicks. One daughter, Kelli Angela, was born from this union. 

Sherman continued his education at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey. In 1972, Sherman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He relocated to Washington, DC where he was employed by The United States Postal Service as an accountant. After his retirement from The Postal Service, Sherman moved to Emporia, Virginia, and he spent several years as a substitute teacher. Sherman also earned his real estate license. 

Sherman purchased a home in Stone Mountain, Georgia where he spent his final years. Sherman was an avid reader. He also loved golf, working out, chatting with his gym buddies, discussing politics and global issues, and watching old movies. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Evelyn White, and Joan White Parham, and niece Jennifer Nicole Parham. 

Sherman died on August 4, 2026. He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Kelli Angela White, who resides in Haledon, NJ, and is an elementary school principal in Paterson, New Jersey; one brother, Command Sgt. Maj(Ret.) Samuel C. White(LaVerne)of Lawrenceville, GA; brother-in-law, Rev. Major(Retired) James Parham, Jr. of Skippers, VA; one niece, Sherry Sheppard(Deltris Sr.) of Lakewood, WA; two nephews Rev. James Parham, III of Skippers, VA, and Samuel C. White, Jr. of Lakewood, WA; two great nephews, Quinn Anthony of Tacoma,Washington, and Marcus(Petrice)Sheppard of Bonney Lake, WA; two great-great nephews, El-Roi and PJ(Marcus); a great-great niece, Clover(Quinn), and a loving and devoted friend and companion, Yvonne Curtis, a retired Registered Nurse, of Stone Mountain, GA.
