Susan Catherine Kelsey, age 61, of Dacula, Georgia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on May 28, 2026. Born on January 20, 1965, in Brooklyn, New York, Susan lived a life defined by love, compassion, creativity, and resilience.
Susan brought warmth, laughter, and light to everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was beautiful inside and out—brilliant, intuitive, kind, and endlessly generous. Her humor and spirit uplifted others, and her presence created a sense of comfort, safety, and belonging.
Susan was deeply devoted to her family, whom she loved unconditionally. She proudly embraced her role as the heart of her home, serving as “Chief Domestic Engineer” at Casa De Kelsey for over three decades. Her family was her greatest joy and her most treasured accomplishment.
In addition to raising her family, Susan pursued her passion for healthcare and education. She attended St. Gregory’s Elementary School and St. Thomas High School in Plantation, Florida.
Later in life, she earned her degree in Cardiovascular Echo from Gwinnett Technical College and worked as a Cardiac Sonographer at Emory Decatur Hospital from 2016 to 2021, and as an Echocardiography Technician with Northeast Georgia Health System through 2025. Always striving to grow, Susan graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kennesaw State University in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
Susan found joy in music and theatre, expressing her creativity and love in every detail of her life. Her spiritual soul provided her with strength and guidance, shaping the compassionate and grounded woman she was.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Devitt; her birth mother, Julie Stewart; her brother, James “Jimmy” Devitt; her mother-in-law, Nancy Kelsey; and her father-in-law, Alton Kelsey.
Susan is survived by her devoted husband, Kirk Kelsey; her beloved children, affectionately known as “The Corndogs” - Collin, Daniel, Devin, Elliot, and Elizabeth Kelsey; her mother, Catherine Devitt; her siblings, Geoff and Laura Stewart, Wesley and Sandra Stewart, and Jennifer and Christopher Wright; Her “furry” family – Stella and Charli, and many extended family members and dear friends.
Susan leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering strength. She was the foundation of her family, a confidant to many, and a source of endless compassion and inclusion. Her memory will live on in every life she touched.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
