Sylvia Hadley Short, 76, of Duluth, GA passed away June 12, 2014. Sylvia was born in Russellville, AR and was the daughter of the late Granddaddy (Willard Clair) and Nannaw (Faye McGriff) Hadley. She graduated from the University of Georgia and later returned to Athens with her husband, Tom, to raise their family. Sylvia truly embraced her faith in God and lived out that faith through her involvement in ministries like Kairos, Faith Alive, Partners in Ministry and Cursillo. She had a unique ability to genuinely connect with virtually everyone she met and never met a stranger.
Sylvia is survived by her husband Tom Short of Duluth, GA; daughters Loren Deal of Atlanta, GA and Shannon Short of Vail, CO; son Michael Short of Macon, GA; grandchildren Caitlin and Conner Short of Athens, GA; sister Faye Beale of Chipley, FL and Granddog Lucy. A special church service celebrating the life of Sylvia will be held at The Church of Jesus Our Shepherd this Sunday, June 22 at 10:30am. A reception will follow the service to give everyone an opportunity to visit and share memories of Sylvia. If you can only make the reception, please plan to arrive around 12:30pm. The church meets at Hilton Atlanta Northeast, 5993 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Norcross, GA 30092.
