Tawnya Rose Lira, born February 2, 1966, in Delaware, Ohio, passed away on August 31, 2026.

Tawnya will be remembered as a kindhearted and generous woman, a sweet soul whose presence brought warmth to those around her. She loved with all of her heart and had a special way of making her family feel loved and special. To those who knew her, she was not only a devoted daughter, sister, cousin, and aunt, but also a good friend whose care and affection left a lasting mark. Her spirit, remembered with the affectionate words “Humus” and “Hairious,” reflected the unique light and personality she carried through life.

She dedicated herself to caring for others through her work as a caregiver, a role that suited her compassionate nature so well. The kindness she gave so freely in her work was the same kindness she shared in her everyday life, offering comfort, love, and steady support to the people fortunate enough to know her.

Tawnya leaves behind family who will continue to hold her close in their hearts, including her brother, David Nicholas McGuire; her cousin, Angela Renee Brook; and her adoptive sister, Crystal Gayle Barret. Their memories of her love, friendship, and generous heart will remain a treasured part of their lives.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Tana Rachelle Lira; her sister, Gaytha Lee Gilliam; her mother, Libby Sue Hernandez; her grandmother, Lucy Mary Martha Ferguson; and her uncle, Nicholas Gilliam, who was especially cherished as her favorite uncle. As her loved ones remember her, they also remember the deep bonds she shared with each of them.

A funeral service for Tawnya Rose Lira will be held on September 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Wages and Sons Funeral Home - Stone Mountain Chapel, 1040 Main St, Stone Mountain, GA 30083.

Tawnya’s life was defined by love, generosity, and the way she made others feel seen and cherished. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
