Theresa “Terry” Sonia Cantarella- Theresa was born in Kingston New York on February 16 th 1931 and peacefully passed away on February 23rd 2021. Theresa was the youngest born to Frank and Mary (Bruno) Mazzuca and grew up in the Bronx, New York. While growing up in the Bronx she met the love of her life of 63 years, John Cantarella, who preceded her in death.
Theresa and John married on May 7 th 1950 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in the Bronx. They welcomed daughters Cathleen (preceded Theresa in death) and Doris Ann. They went on to have many successful pizza restaurants in the New York area. They decided it was time to retire and moved to Georgia with their daughter Doris Ann and her family. Theresa enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and getting to travel with John. Soon all the family joined them in Georgia and she enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great grandchildren. Theresa loved to Gamble and loved taking trips to the beach. She loved to cook for her family and having them all together. Her family was her greatest blessing. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with Helen and Kathy Fleming, and her shopping trips with them.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Doris Ann Fleming and Her Husband Rob, Son in Law Barney Matheson. Grandchildren Vanessa DiGiacomo, Jennifer Matheson, Bryan and Joanna Matheson, Kelly and Chris Banham, Danny and Becky Fleming, and Kathryn Fleming. Great Grandchildren Andrew Matheson, Danielle, Gina, Nicholas, and Dean DiGiacomo, Kylee, Isabella, Addisyn, and Brody Matheson, and Jackson, Connor, and Caroline Banham. Also is survived by her Best Friend and Sister Lena Orza and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Duluth, Georgia will be Saturday March 27 th at 11AM to celebrate Theresa’s Life
In Lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to St. Monica’s Catholic Church in her name or to The Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
