Thomas Clark Painter Jr

Stone Mountain

Thomas Clark Painter II born September 13th 1943 in Jeanette, PA to Thomas Clark Painter Sr.and Agnes Brown. He passed away peacefully May 21st in Atlanta, Ga. He is survived by his wife Patricia Sedlmayr Painter, daughter Kelly Carlton Painter and son Thomas Painter III.
He was presided in death by his sisters Marion MacIntosh of Irwin, Pa and Bonnie Taylor of Savannah, Ga. Tom was a Vietnam Veteran...and met his two best friends in life... Max Cleland and Sherman Kennedy...while in Vietnam. After coming home from Vietnam....he married way out of his league on Jan 26th 1974 to Patricia Sedlmayr . They would spend the next 52 plus years together to the joy and delight of their kids who cherished holiday and family gatherings in Stn. Mtn. at their home. Tom spent much of the 80s coaching his sons Little League baseball teams...and pioneered "Therapy Coaching"....which ignored wins and losses (to the confusion of his son)....and focused instead on player satisfaction...which meant every kid on his team got to play any position they wanted and after every game got to eat whatever they wanted at the concession stand...courtesy of Mr Painter. At the same time....he was teaching his daughter Kelly how to play softball in the backyard with a broom stick and small wiffle ball and instilling in her a belief and confidence that would propel her through life. His business career was filled with a variety of personalities from all walks of life meeting him at either the Steak and Ale on Lavista Rd or Cafe Intermezzo at Perimeter. What happened after those meetings is still a mystery to his family.....but they never went without and knew that his heart was always in the right place. His true love in life was his family and the thing he was most proud of. His heart was his greatest gift in life. He changed many lives by going out of his way to help. Words can't express how much his family loved him.
At his request there will be a private family memorial with military honors at a later date.
