Tim Michael Lister

Tim Michael Lister, 56, of Suwanee, Georgia, passed away at his home on June 27, 2026.

A visitation will be held at Saint Lawrence Catholic Church on July 7th at 10am with a service to follow at 11am.

Born in Toledo, Ohio on March 28, 1970, Tim graduated from Maryville with a degree in Writing/Communications. After beginning his career in sales, he realized his true calling was serving others. He enrolled in the Gwinnett County Fire Academy in 2004, where he graduated with the peer-nominated "Top Rung" award, a reflection of the respect and admiration he earned from those who trained alongside him.

Tim proudly served the citizens of Gwinnett County at Fire Stations 5, 19, and 14 from 2004 until 2013. His passion for the fire service naturally blended with his passion for teaching, and he returned to the Fire Academy as an instructor. Over the next 12 years, he helped train dozens of classes of future firefighters, mentoring countless men and women as they began careers dedicated to serving their communities. Following his retirement from the department in 2025, Tim continued doing what he loved by joining Maxwell High School, where he inspired and guided another generation of students.

Outside of work, Tim believed there was no problem that couldn't be improved with hard work and a little sweat. He was a self-proclaimed meathead, happiest while lifting heavy weights or running distances most people would never voluntarily attempt. He found peace outdoors, whether exploring trails or spending weekends transforming his yard into a meticulously maintained oasis. The care he put into everything he did reflected the pride he took in his work and the joy he found in creating something beautiful.

Tim is survived by his mother, Pam Lister; his brothers, Greg and Mark Lister; his children, Jacob and Jenna Lister; and his beloved girlfriend, Jamie Edwards. More than any accomplishment, Tim will be remembered for the example he set. He gave generously of his time, shared his knowledge freely, and believed deeply in helping others become their best. Whether as a firefighter, instructor, father, brother, son, or friend, he left people stronger, more confident, and better for having known him. His humor, steady presence, and generous spirit will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
