Vyrtice Leon Blalock

Vyrtice Leon Blalock age 94, formerly of Stone Mountain, GA passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017. Born on Wednesday, August 1, 1923 to the late J. R. and Audrey Flowers. “Granny” as she was so affectionately known was a loving; mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved to sew and had a passion for gardening. Vyrtice was a faithful follower of Christ and was a long time member of Zion Baptist Church in Stone Mountain; GA. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband; Roy Ewell Blalock; son, Richard Blalock; grandson, Rodney Singleton; brother, James Flowers; sisters, Ellen Flowers, and Frances Ergle. She is survived by her daughter Mary Ann Singleton and husband, Roger; granddaughter, Dr. Stephanie Singleton and husband, Keith Potter; grandsons, Todd Blalock and wife, Maureen, and Trent Blalock and wife, Megan; great grandson, Ewell Blalock; brother, Ray Flowers and wife, Shelia; sisters, Ann Mewborn and husband, Bill, Marie Moore and husband, David, and Mae Finnell and husband, Hermon; daughter in law, Sue Blalock Hix; several nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Wages & Sons Funeral Directors Stone Mountain Chapel with Pastor Tim Chupp officiating. Burial will follow at Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain; GA. Pallbearers are Lance Martin, Kevin Davis, John Malette, Jeff Stoddard, Thomas Rister, and Kenneth Flowers.
