On January 5th the world lost the most beautiful pink ray of sunshine, Wanda Carol Powell of Winder, Ga. What can be said about this wonderfully amazing pink-loving lady with the most unique sense of style? She loved laughing, music, deserts, shopping (especially at yard sales and goodwill), and trips to the beach, but she loved her family and friends more than anything. One of her specialties was spoiling all the little ones in her life, even those that weren’t so little any more. She was the most caring person, and was always willing to hitch a ride to whomever needed her as their caregiver at the drop of a hat. She was absolutely a one of a kind wonderful woman that will be greatly missed by so many. Carol was preceeded in death by her mother and father Christine and Jack Jackson, brother Ted Jackson, sister-girl Vickie Jackson, and nephew Dustin Jackson. She is survived by her husband Gary Powell, her daughter and daughter-in-law Nickie and Susie Smith, her daughter and son-in-law Christina and Michael Burroughs, her grandsons Alex Clowdus and Anderson Teague, granddaughter Alysia Teague, and great grandson Silas Kemp, brother and sister-in-law Dennis Jackson and Tish West, brother and brother-in-law Tony Jackson and Mike Kirby, sister-in-law Katy Powell, and nieces and nephews she loved like her own Sherry Wright, Leah Hyde, Margie Irvin, and Daniel Nelson, and oh so many more who called her Grammy.
As Carol would have not have wanted a depressing funeral, we will be having a Celebration of Life with music, food, and memories in the spring. Date to be determined.
