Wanda Cox Wilburn

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wanda Cox Wilburn, age 89, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, who died peacefully on December 21, 2024. Wanda was born on February 9, 1935, in Mineral Bluff, Georgia, to Homer and Willie Caylor Cox.

Wanda had a fulfilling and dedicated career as a Federal Government Employee, where she made lasting contributions. She was an active member of the Lawrenceville Garden Club, the Red Hat Society, and the Master Gardener program. Wanda’s passions for gardening and community involvement brought joy to those around her, and she cherished the friendships she made along the way.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Wilburn; her parents, Homer and Willie Caylor Cox; and her siblings, Frances Coffee, Elizabeth Holloway, and Mark Cox. Wanda is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Schimmel of Brentwood, TN; her brother, Ralph Cox of Ellijay, GA; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church.
