Wesley Archie Johnson Jr. was the firstborn child and only son born to Wesley Sr. and Clara Johnson on October 28, 1978 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Our dear Wesley Jr. fell asleep in death after a lengthy illness on Sunday morning, April 15, 2018.
Wes Jr. grew up in Tucker, Georgia. As a youth, he enjoyed reading, playing the trombone, and dancing. He will be well remembered for his many outstanding qualities. Wes Jr. was described by his family as the most lovingly considerate, thoughtful, caring individual, giving of himself to others.
Wes Jr.'s life was full of love, kindness and a strong sense of family. He was a loving and devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He enjoyed a special bond of friendship with his only sibling, Ashley Holmes. Wherever Wes Jr. would go, his friendly smile and engaging personality would draw others to him. He endured very severe periods of illness for years, and yet he still managed to maintain a positive outlook much to the amazement of those who knew him well.
From infancy, Wes Jr. was taught the truth about Jehovah God and His wonderful promises for the future found in the Bible. In May 1993, he was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses at the age of 14. He looked forward to and was strengthened by Jehovah's sure promise that one day, sickness and death would be no more! Though Wes Jr. was quite ill by this time, how wonderful it was for him to be able to attend the special talk just a few weeks ago on March 25, 2018 along with his parents and his sister and her family at the Hurricane Shoals Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. It warmed his heart to be with his family and friends on this special occasion and to experience an interchange of encouragement as well as to hear the expressions of faith made by his parents and his sister as well as his brother-in-law and his niece and nephew during the Watchtower Study. What a marvelous privilege for his family to share with him in what has become his last meeting at Jehovah's House for now.
Without a doubt, we will sorely miss Wes Jr., but if we keep in sharp focus our eyes and stay faithful to Jehovah, we'll look for him in Paradise! Because one day soon, he will hear the call of Christ: "Wake up Wesley Jr.! Wake up to perfect health! Wake up to the real life!"
Left to cherish his memory is his parents, Wesley Sr. and Clara Johnson, his sister Ashley and her husband Maurice Holmes, his niece and nephew Shaniya and Maurice Holmes, as well as his aunts, uncles and cousins. Also left to cherish his memory are many dear friends and loved ones in Louisiana and Georgia.
