W.H. (Bill) Kimmons

W.H. (Bill) Kimmons, age 101, passed away on June 6, 2024 in Lawrenceville, Georgia. He was born on October 25, 1922, in Norman, Oklahoma.

Bill was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Always a gentleman, he befriended many people of all walks of life during his 101 years and was the epitome of a life well lived. He served his country during World War II as a Corporal in the US Marine Corps in the Pacific theatre and afterwards in the Oklahoma National Guard. He met and married the love of his life, Dorothy Coppedge, in 1946 and they were inseparable until her passing in 1986. His work life included ownership of the Overhead Door Co of Atlanta, from 1955 thru 1972. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling by motorhome to all parts of the United States and Canada while visiting family and friends along the way. He was a Lifetime Member of the Family Motor Coach Association and attended many State, Regional and National Rallies as well as leading many smaller caravans of family and friends to interesting and scenic destinations.

He is preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Irene Kimmons of Norman, Oklahoma; his beloved wife Dorothy Kimmons and his second wife, Betty Kimmons; his brother, Memory Roberts and wife Lucy, and sisters, Polly Dollar, Sue Akin and husband Bob; and daughter-in-law Linda M. Kimmons. Bill leaves behind his sister, Lorene Cook, his loving children, Anne K. Garey of Longview, Texas and John W. Kimmons of Lawrenceville, Georgia; as well as Betty’s children, Steve Boots and Patty Howren and their respective families. Papaw was a proud grandfather to grandaughters Kimberly Smith of Longview, TX, Stefanie Sheedy of Florence, KY, and grandsons and their wives: Keith and Lynn Kimmons of Pittsburgh, PA; Kurt and Lucy Kimmons of Greer, SC. He also leaves behind five great-grandaughters: Shelby, Sydney, Ava, Olivia and Sophie as well as five great-grandsons: Dalan, Conner, Kinzey, Ryan and Kyle.

Celebration of Life services will be graveside in Ore City, Texas on August 3rd 2024 at 11 am and the family will receive visitors at the Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City from 10 – 11 am. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Ore City Cemetery Association, PO Box 1073, Ore City, TX 75683. A Celebration of Life service will also be held at the North Hall Community Center in Gainesville, GA on August 10th at 10 am.
