Willard Dean Bedingfield

Willard Dean Bedingfield, age 74 of Lawrenceville passed away on June 16th, 2015 at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, GA. Willard was born on April 12, 1941 to the late Carl and Nora Haney Bedingfield. Willard retired in 1995 as Captain of the Gwinnett County Police Department. During his 30 years of service to Gwinnett County, he commanded both detective and uniform divisions. He was also a 1978 graduate of the FBI National Academy. In addition to his parents, Willard is preceded in death by his brother, Bennie Bedingfield and brothers-in-law, Charlie Compton and Larry Fleeman. Willard is survived by his sons, Jeffery Dean Bedingfield and Joel Carl Bedingfield and his wife, Dedra Bedingfield; daughter; Pamela Bedingfield Schultz and former son-in-law, Jack Schultz; grandson, Justin Avery Bedingfield; granddaughter, Haley Faith Bedingfield; former wife, JoAnn Everett Boss; sisters, Joan Compton and Judy Fleeman; sister-in-law, Brenda Bedingfield and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 19th, 2015 at 3:30pm at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel with Rev. Fred Bedingfield officiating. Interment will follow at Gwinnett Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 18th from 2:00pm til 4:00pm and 6:00pm til 9:00pm at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel. Gwinnett County Police Department, Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department and Lawrenceville Police Department will serve as Honor Guard.
