William Lee Roberts

August 13, 1949 — January 21, 2025

William Lee Roberts, a beloved father, grandfather, entrepreneur, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025, as a resident of Gwinnett County, GA, at the age of 75. Born on August 13, 1949, in Charleston, WV, William led a vibrant and impactful life, filled with love, laughter, and generosity.

A proud graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School in West Virginia, William earned his Regents Bachelor of Arts from Marshall University in Huntington, WV, as part of the Class of 2004. He was a devoted member of the Marshall University Alumni Association, the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity, and a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lilburn, GA.

William’s zest for life was evident in his many hobbies. He loved music, sailing, camping, and exploring the beauty of West Virginia’s state parks. An avid football enthusiast, he was a lifelong supporter of the West Virginia Mountaineers and an especially passionate fan of the Marshall University Thundering Herd.

As the owner and CEO of Wing-It Distribution, William’s leadership and inventive mind were hallmarks of his professional life. His quick wit, “dad-isms,” and problem-solving abilities made him both a trusted leader and a beloved companion. A “fireball of energy,” he never stopped thinking creatively, always dreaming up new ideas and solutions.

William’s warm personality and playful spirit made him the life of the party. He had a natural gift for making people laugh and lifting their spirits during difficult times. His friends admired his sense of humor and generosity, while his family cherished the love, protection, and joy he provided.

Deeply interested in health and wellness, William was passionate about natural supplements, medical advancements, and research. Though he began medical school in the 1970s, he continued his exploration of health sciences throughout his life.

He was a longtime supporter of Native American tribal schools, animal rescue charities, and his cherished Marshall University. At Trinity Lutheran Church, he served on the Oktoberfest Committee and contributed to Wednesday night dinners for many years.

William adored his loyal beagle, Daisy, who was a constant source of companionship and joy.

He is preceded in death by his father, James William Roberts; mother, Margaret Mary Burns; aunt, Uldine Ruth Roberts; uncle, Stanley L. Roberts; aunt, Arlene Doris Lilly; grandfather, Larry Roberts; and grandmother, Lola Roberts.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Emily Roberts Fields, Cynthia Leigh Mustachio, Kimberly Kay Roberts, and Valerie June-Meg Roberts; ex-wife Francie Melcher; aunt Anna Gale Smithson; uncle John Roberts; grandson Antony Lee Mustachio; girlfriend Sandra Penny; sons-in-law David Fields and Michael Mustachio; and numerous cherished cousins.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 30, 2025, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 PM at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Marshall University Alumni Association in Huntington, WV, or the Humane Society of the United States.

William’s infectious spirit, unwavering love, and dedication to his family, friends, and community will forever be remembered. His legacy of laughter, kindness, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
