William O Winter

September 21, 1928 — May 14, 2010

William O Winter, age 81, died May 14, 2010 after complications from heart surgery. He graduated from Winterville High School and attended Georgia Institute of Technology. After serving in the United State Marine Corps he graduated from Duke University. After 20 years of service he retired from the Southern Company and continued in the field of finance at several churches, most recently Northwest Presbyterian. For 40 years, he was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church serving in many leadership positions and currently was a member of Dunwoody United Methodist Church. Mr. Winter is survived by his wife, Joan Carter Winter, son Warren Carter Winter, daughters Sara Louise Winter and Alice Elizabeth Winter and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends at their home Sunday, May 16, from five to seven. The memorial service will be at Dunwoody United Methodist Church on Monday, May 17 at 2:00 p.m., Dr. B. Wiley Stephens and Dr. Thomas A. Green officiating. A reception will follow in the Church Parlor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dunwoody United Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice.
