It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Winnie Ellaree Wells Lowery, a daughter of the South, who was wholly devoted to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Winnie was born on October 16, 1929, in Vanna, Georgia, and went home to be with the Lord on October 28, 2026, in Annandale, Virginia. Through her journey of ninety-seven years, she touched countless individuals with her faith, wisdom, humor, and unwavering perseverance.
Among the many milestones of her well-lived life, Winnie marked each year as a loving wife, devoted mother, a loyal grandmother and great-grandmother, a faithful sister, and friend. Early in her marriage to her husband, Bishop, Dr. Aubrey Cema Lowery, a WWII veteran, he deemed her “The Queen Bee.” Throughout their forty-eight and a half years of marriage, they shared many amazing encounters; from national to international travels, to owning and operating Lowery’s Diner and Lowery’s Barbershops. However, their most poignant work was as senior pastors within the Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee).
As a housewife and mother of two beautiful children, Winnie enjoyed singing, yodeling, cooking, canning, sewing, volunteering at church and school functions, and keeping up with the latest puzzles. She was also a natural instrumentalist who played by ear; the guitar, the accordion, the organ, and the piano. With her sterling soprano voice, Winnie had fantastic aura skills, relative pitch, and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Winnie was a source of security, love, and comfort to her family, her church family, and those in need. Her willingness to help anyone, coupled with her selfless giving and generosity made her an infectious fountain of joy and love.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Bishop, Dr. Aubrey Cema Lowery and their son Aubrey Kenneth Lowery. She was also preceded in death by her parents Jesse Lee Wells and Cordelia (Winn) Wells. Her brother J.C. Wells and her sisters Irene (Wells) Jones, Sara (Wells) Wread, Ruth (Wells) O’Neal, Dorothy (Wells) Pece, and Frances (Wells) Harvey. Further, she was preceded by great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Winnie is survived by her loving daughter Pamela A. Lowery Brozozog and her husband Bishop, Dr. B. Spencer Brozozog, II. Her daughter-in-law Vicki (Warren) [Lowery] Seaver and her husband Danny Robert Seaver. Her cherished grandchildren Heather Michele Lowery Green and her husband John Steven Green, Elizabeth Ellarée Brozozog DeMoss and her husband Reverend John Steven DeMoss, II, Bishop Spencer Jonathan Brozozog and his wife Joanne Carol (Clark) Brozozog, and Dr. Pamela Audrey Brozozog Lee, DMSc and her husband Christopher Allen Lee. Her adored great-grandchildren Garrett Green, Hannah Green, Vivienne DeMoss, Alexander Brozozog, Nicolas Brozozog, Isabela Brozozog, Penelope Brozozog, Victoria Brozozog, Liliana Brozozog, Augustine Brozozog, Winston Brozozog, Katherine Lee, Juliette Lee, Adam Lee, and Anneliese Lee. With her sisters Evelyn (Wells) Burry, Charlotte (Wells) Long, and her sister-in-law Charlotte (Cameron) Lowery, and a myriad of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
