Yên Thi Quàng was born in 1924 in Điện Biên, Lai Châu. Her father was a high-ranking official during the French colonial period. In her younger years, she delighted in horseback excursions, riding through open landscapes and savoring the quiet beauty of the world around her.
In 1954, due to the political situation at the time, she, her husband, and their children, along with her siblings moved to the South. The family moved frequently because her husband served in the military.
By 1965, the family settled in Đức Trọng, Lâm Đồng, about 30 kilometers from the city of Đà Lạt.
In 1990, she and two of her children immigrated to the United States and lived in the city of Des Moines, Iowa.
In 1994, they moved to Atlanta. After that, the other children who were still in Vietnam also gradually came to live in Atlanta, where they remain to this day.
She enjoyed a remarkable longevity, reaching the age of 102, and leaves behind:
Gifted with skillful hands, she took great pleasure in cooking, sewing, and knitting. Above all, she cherished visits from her children and grandchildren and delighted in family gatherings.
Her outlook on life was that life is beautiful—from kindness to compassion. She loved nature, loved flowers, and loved vibrant colors. May her memory remain a blessing to those who knew her, and may her life continue to inspire future generations.
