Marjorie Carolyn Stephens Branton, 87, of Johns Creek, GA, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025. She was born on November 25, 1937, in Durham, NC, to the late Frank and Lucille Stephens.
On December 24, 1958, she married the love of her life, LeRoy Jackson Branton, whose career in the U.S. Air Force took them around the world, including Japan, Okinawa and Germany. Upon returning to the States, they made their home in Wilmington, NC, Atlanta, GA, and Jacksonville, FL where she fulfilled her dream of owning a beach home.
Marjorie loved working as a house manager for the University of North Florida in Jacksonville Beach, where her eye for detail and warm spirit left a lasting mark. After her retirement, she was able to travel to Italy, Mexico and France, amongst others.
She had a passion for music, dancing, and flower gardening, and she especially loved the beach. Marjorie was known for her impeccable style — always the best-dressed person at any event, at times delightfully overdressed. Perky, quick-witted, friendly and full of humor, she had a way of keeping everyone around her smiling and on their toes.
Marjorie also had a loving heart for rescue animals, giving a safe and happy home to numerous cats and dogs over the years.
Marjorie’s love of family, life, laughter, animals, and beauty will be remembered always by the family and friends who were blessed to know her.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Jackson Branton; her sisters Frances Stephens Lynch, Mildred Stephens McCubbins, Betty Stephens Getman, Mary Anne Stephens Johnson, Barbara Stephens Belanger; and her brothers Hezro Stephens and Ben Stephens.
She is survived by her daughters, Angela James Branton Winders (John), Belinda Branton Bramlett (Kirk), and Julie Branton Grosu; her grandchildren, Lee Fisher (Jaime), Stephen Fisher, Amy Libowsky, Andrew Libowsky (Margaret), and Anthony Grosu; and her great-grandchildren, Michael Fisher, Daniel Fisher, Luke Libowsky, and Eli Libowsky.
