Kay Sloan Earnhardt, 90, died on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at King’s Bridge Retirement Center in Atlanta, GA. She was born Marion Kay Sloan on March 17, 1931, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Charles Marion Sloan Sr. and Jeannette Montgomery Sloan.

Her husband Robert Turner Earnhardt Jr. and her brother Charles Marion Sloan Jr. preceded her in death.

She is survived by her two sons, Robert Turner Earnhardt III (Bobby) of Lilburn, GA, and Jeffrey Michael Earnhardt of Cumming, GA. She is survived by her grandchildren from Bobby’s family; including Robert Turner Earnhardt IV, Stefan Thomas Earnhardt, and Dylan Charles Earnhardt along with Jeffrey’s family; Kylie Paige Earnhardt, Caleb James Earnhardt, Ryals Turner Earnhardt, and Gavin Michael Earnhardt.

Kay dedicated her life to helping others through her faith and her creativity.

She was a member of Briarlake Baptist Church, a volunteer at the Memorial Drive shelter, and a supporter the Open Door Orphanage in the Philippines.

Through her creativity, she authored numerous books for the Houghton Mifflin Company, founded the magnet program at Grady High School in Atlanta GA, and became the most sought-after greeting card maker the state of Georgia has ever known.

Per Kay’s request her celebration of life will occur when the virus subsides.
