Bridgette was the beloved daughter of Cencil and Atwill O’Neal. She was born January 9, 1960 in Los Angeles, California and raised in Junction City, Kansas. She attended Junction City, Kansas Schools and matriculated to the University of Kansas.

She went on to embark in a meaningful professional career in Marketing and was fortunate to develop her strengths within major marketing companies such as: Conde Nast Publications, Johnson Publications, Time Warner and many others. Bridgette later pursued a career with Diversity and Equity Inclusion Corporations such as IPG H + K. She currently held the position as Director of Diversity and Equity Inclusion with Gensler Corporation. She expressed to family and friends as having found her “dream job” with coworkers that were more like family. This job highlighted the passion she had for equal rights among us all. Her strong Christian faith from childhood, attending Second Missionary Baptist Church in Junction City, Kansas, was instrumental in igniting a passion for equality.

Bridgette was kind, generous and many will remember her for her encouraging spirit. She passed away peacefully on January 4, 2022. Her father, grandparents, uncles and aunts preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her loving mother, Atwill O’Neal; two sisters, Sonya Goodwin and Jacqueline Jones; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other family and friends and her inclusive work families, Gensler Corporation family.

From our days at Essence, to IPG and then WPP, I feel as though I have always known you. We shared so much together and at the core there was deep trust. Your smile and laugh, your thoughtfulness and concern for others are the things I will keep with me always. (I can hear you now as I write this). Thank you for being my friend, a wonderful confidante and always the truth teller. I am grateful for the time we shared. I miss you. My heart goes out to your family.

  8. Dear Bridgette, I just found out. I can hear your voice and see your smile as if it were yesterday. You were such a positive source of light, only seeing the good in people and the world. It was a blessing to work with you at Essence and then shortly at The Times. Such a special, kind, loving soul. My condolences to your family.
