Phuong Nhu Tran

April 28, 1966 ~ December 14, 2022
Phuong Nhu Tran, beloved husband and father, peacefully passed away on December 14, 2022 at the age of 56 after a 7-month battle with cancer.
He was born in Rach Gia (Kien Giang), Vietnam on April 28, 1966 to parents Chau Nhu Tran and Hoan Cung Thi Nguyen. In 1988, he married Quynh Lan Thi Nguyen, with whom he had 3 daughters.
He was extremely well-rounded, but was most certainly the epitome of compassion, selflessness, resilience, and wits:
Not a single heart was left untouched in his presence; he extended kindness and warmth to all without any hesitation, viewing everyone in his life as family whether they were related by blood or not. Family was everything to him. Striving for a better life for his children, he made the difficult and brave decision to leave Vietnam for the unfamiliar United States, a country where he did not know the land nor speak the language. He worked day in, day out in various hard labor jobs over the years just to provide for his children and his family back in Vietnam; if there was any overtime, he would not hesitate to put in the extra hours as long as he could support his loved ones, even if it was just a little more. Despite moving halfway across the world, he never once lost contact with his mother or siblings, always making sure to check up on them in his free time even with the significant time difference. With his passion and reliability, people gravitated towards him wherever he went. He easily made many close-knit, life-long friendships and was revered by many for his dependability and leadership.
His intellect knew no bounds. For one, despite not having access to traditional higher education, he was always the smartest person in the room. No matter the topic, he would make sure that he was as knowledgeable as possible so he could pass on valuable information to those that needed it. This extends further to emotional intelligence – he was also always the most sensible, level-headed person. Through numerous hardships, he was the shoulder to lean on and the one to offer the best advice; he was the one to de-escalate any situation and to settle the room during a conflict. He was constantly wise beyond his years while still managing to stay gentle and empathetic, a role model to those of all different ages.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chau Nhu Tran, and his brother-in-law, Quan Huu Nguyen.
He is survived by his wife, Quynh Lan Thi Nguyen; his children, Lan Phuong Nguyen Tran, Phuong Giao Nguyen Tran, and Phuong Loan Nguyen Tran; his mother, Hoan Cung Thi Nguyen; his brothers, Thanh Nhu Tran, Van Nhu Tran, and Tam Nhu Tran; and his sister, Kim Hue Hoang Dang.
The family is not asking for flowers or donations, only your presence at the funeral.
