October 2, 1943 ~ February 22, 2023

Resided in: Stone Mountain, Georgia

On February 22nd we lost an absolutely amazing, beautiful soul who will be greatly missed. Clara Ann Smith of Stone Mountain was a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was happiest when adventuring on camping trips with her family, quilting masterpieces, crafting works of art, whooping folks at card games (Granny rules only), rooting for the good guys at wrestling matches, doting on her pet birds and tiny dogs, planting flowers, gardening and getting anything green to grow, filling and watching her many wild bird feeders, or taking care of family. She was a tiny woman with a big personality. She was called Granny or Aunt Clara by most because, even if you weren’t a blood relative, Granny was going to treat you and love you like family.

She is survived by: Husband (of 65 years!!), Papa Willie Mack Smith. Daughter, Diane Smith. Grandchildren, Nickie Smith, Susie Smith, Margie Ervin, Jamey Ervin, Christina Aderhold. Great-Grandchildren, Alex Clowdus, Hunter Allen, Emerson Ervin, Anderson Teague, Ashlyn Ervin, Cory Ervin. Sister-in-law Mary Katy Powell, Brother Gary Powell, and daughter-in-law/sister-in-law/angelic caretaker Carol Powell.

She is preceded in death by: Son, Derrek Smith. Grandson, Dustin Jackson. Brothers, Jimmy Powell and Howard Powell.

Visitation will be held at Wages and Son in Stone Mountain, Saturday, February 25th, 5pm-7pm.

Funeral will be held on Sunday at 2pm, also at Wages, with a graveside service to follow at Stone Mountain Cemetery.

  2. CandleImageGranny, what can I say? You’ve been my Granny before you were a granny, though we didn’t call you by that at the time. Our families are one, intertwined in ways most families can’t fathom. You were always there, always kind (or kicking my ass when needed)… a force to be reckoned with and always a friend to my mama. I’ve loved you all these years as kin, and that’s what I’ll think of til I leave this plane of existence and move on. Thank you for everything, especially the food… oh, the food! I’m so happy our little pup JJ brought you so much happiness on our last meeting in December last year… and you’ll always live on in my heart. Rest well.

  3. CandleImageSending my condolences to the family and friends of Clara Smith. May she continue to watch over each of you in every success. ????
