Born in: Gastonia, North Carolina
Resided in: Toccoa, Georgia

Nancy Clemmer Dollar of Toccoa, GA went to be with the Lord on Monday May 8, 2023 at the age of 74. After an unexpected extended hospital stay and battling many illnesses, she passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.

Nancy was a teacher in the Gwinnett County Public Schools for 30 years and was beloved by many of her high school students that she taught. Many kept in touch with her years after they moved on because of her lasting impact on their lives. That kind of impact touched countless lives but particularly that of her surviving spouse, Tony Dollar, and his children and family.

In July of 2002, two people were looking for love on match.com and found one another. The moment Nancy and Tony laid eyes on each other, they knew they could never be without the other. This prompted a quick engagement followed by a fast elopement that ended with 22 years of marital bliss and a most beautiful love story. The two were inseparable and anyone looking on could feel the love that flowed between them.

Through their union, Nancy was able to have the children and grandchildren she couldn’t have on her own. She gained two daughters, two sons-in-law, and seven grandchildren whom affectionately called her “Grandmama”.

Nancy’s intelligence, sense of humor, and natural talent to teach made her a joy to be around and learn from. She had a huge love of animals, particularly for dogs. That love of dogs lead her to raise dachshunds and show them in competitions. Anyone who knew Nancy knew she was a force to be reckoned with in all the best ways. That kind of fierce spirit will leave us all with a hole that can never be filled. She will be greatly missed by her surviving family, friends, and students.

A celebration of life will take place at a future time with plans to scatter her ashes at one of her favorite places in the world, Kure Beach.

To honor her love and passion for dogs, the family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Rescue Me GA in her name. Donations can be made at www.rmgdogs.org.

Guestbook

  1. Nancy and I worked at Parkview High School together for about 24 years. She was someoen I really enjoyed knowing and made me always laugh. I am so sorry she has passed away.

  2. CandleImageI met Nancy in 1977 as social studies teacher at Parkview. Because we both lived in Clarkston at the time, we carpooled and quickly bonded our friendship. Since we had a similar sense of humor, we laughed and cut up to and from school every day. Her friendship and kindness meant so much to me. In the summer of 1978, my brother and sister-in-law were killed in an automobile accident. Honestly I was a bit lost. Nancy would pick me up and we would go different places. Her support and love helped to begin healing. Nancy and I shared a love of animals, especially dogs. When she was going to be away, my youngest daughter Kristen and I would take care of her dogs. It was one of these times I met you Tony. Nancy’s happiness and joy shone through her when you walked into the room. I am so glad you two found one another. My condolences to you and the family. Her love and friendship will always be with me. God bless you all. Love, Debbie
