Anthony Gregory Russo (age 94) passed away Monday, April 22, 2025 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help
Home in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born on May 17,1930 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts to Antonio
DeRocco Russo and Maria Lupisella Russo. He was the eighth of nine siblings and predeceased by his
parents and siblings (Rocco Joseph Russo, Joseph Paul Russo, Albert Carl Russo, Mary Delores
Russo-Pizzuto, Frank Samuel Russo, Josephine Russo, Carmen Russo, and Thomas James Russo). He is
survived by several nieces and nephews.
In his early years, Anthony attended the seminary studying in Italy to join the priesthood, but had
a change of heart. Anthony worked at IBM as an accountant for thirty years before retiring in 1986
and moving to Georgia to be close to his sister Mary and family. Simultaneously with his career, he
pursued his passion for art and received training in the fine arts at the Angelicum University in
Rome Italy. In addition, he completed extensive studies with several famous American artists and
received certification as a Portrait Artist in 1990. His other interests include playing classical
and other genres of music on the piano of which he was professionally trained. Upon his retirement,
he continued his passion for learning and self-taught himself computer skills, transitioning his
love for painting to the realm of digital design and animation.
Our loving uncle, Anthony Gregory Russo, after completing his sojourn on earth, passed away
following Holy Week and Easter Sunday. it seems fitting that he would complete his journey during
this sacred time. Anthony will be buried with his family, in St. Joseph Cemetery, Pittsfield,
Massachusetts. A private blessing will be held at the burial site on Thursday, May 1ˢᵗ, 2025. A
funeral mass will be held in his honor at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church in Lilburn,
Georgia.
