Anthony Gene Peppers, 67, a highly beloved man, entered the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Tony left behind a legacy of true love and devotion. His boundless joy for living life was evidenced by the warmth he brought into every room.

Tony was, first and foremost, a family man. His whole heart belonged to his devoted wife of 45 years, Cathy, his cherished son Logan and his precious new granddaughter, Charlotte, whose recent arrival filled his heart with indescribable joy. She brought a spark to his eyes, for a short but precious time.

Tony was everything to everyone, both in his family and work life. He had a special way with all babies – earning the family reputation as a “baby whisperer” for his uncanny ability to soothe and bond with the littles. Tony lived life to the fullest, embracing each day with a contagious sense of humor, endless stories and goofy jokes.

A true outdoorsman, Tony found peace in nature. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, always looking forward to a trip into the woods or out on the water with his favorite buddies, his son Logan, best friend Sonny, and nephews Richard, Karson, Avery and Asher. It was in those quiet moments that Tony felt most alive. His favorite vacation trips with his wife usually involved some beach time, where Tony built epic sandcastles and entertained the children for hours.

Professionally, Tony devoted the majority of his career – over 37 years – to Ordner Construction, where he served as the face of the company. He earned the respect and admiration of countless colleagues, fellow superintendents, project managers, subcontractors, vendors, interns, owners and clients around the country. His commitment and integrity left a lasting impression of all the people he worked among.

Tony is survived by his wife, Cathy Simmons Peppers, his son Logan Anthony Peppers (Jessalyn), granddaughter Charlotte Jane Peppers, his father Harry William Johnson, mother Betty Jane Johnson, brothers Harry Wayne Johnson (Juwanna) and Gary William Johnson (Samantha), Sister in law Diane Scarbrough (Roger), nieces Karen Haulk Styles (Sonny) and Toni Firster, nephew Richard Lee Scarbrough (Bisso), and dozens of other nieces, nephews and cousins including Kinner, Zander, Mozelle Johnson, Jerry, Owen, Lauren and Berkley Haulk, Karson Styles, Riley and Colten Firster, Austin, Avery, Abby, Asher and Ariella Scarbrough.

Tony is predeceased by his brother Gaylon Burnett Peppers, grandparents, Bertie and Homer Cole, Roy and Mozelle Johnson, father-in-law Claude Simmons, mother-in-law Louise Simmons, and brother-in-law Doug Simmons.

Tony’ memory will be forever honored by his large family and in every project that stands tall thanks to his expertise and dedication. Rest easy, Tony. You lived a life full of abundant love and laughter and will be remembered every day in loving memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to a college fund for Tony’s pride and joy, 3-week-old Charlotte Jane.
