Resided in: Lawrenceville, Georgia

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Eugene S. Kane, lovingly known by many names—Geno, Gene the Bean, Mean Gene, Bubba, Gampy and Simp—on August 12, 2025, at the age of 82.

Born in Lackawanna, New York, on February 19, 1943, Gene was a proud graduate of Bishop Timon High School in Buffalo, Class of 1960. He went on to serve six years in the Army and National Guard, where his discipline, strength, and sense of duty were shaped and sharpened.

Gene moved to Georgia in 1973, where he would spend the majority of his life raising a family, building a career, and enriching his community. He worked as a supervisor at Lucent Technologies in the Fiber Final Test Division, where his leadership and dedication were well known and respected.

He was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church in Snellville, where he found faith, friendship, and peace.

Gene had a magnetic personality and an “old school” sense of humor that made him the undeniable life of the party. He loved tennis, golf, and watching sports—especially when his children or grandchildren were on the field. His pride in his family knew no bounds, and he never missed a chance to cheer them on.

Though he carried himself with a tough exterior, Gene had a deeply loving and loyal heart. He adored his siblings and was especially close to his twin brother, Jack. Jack’s passing was a profound loss for Gene, but he continued to draw strength from the presence of his family and friends, who brought him comfort and joy throughout his life.

Gene was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lynda McHale Kane; his parents, John and Anna Kane; his siblings, Phil Kane, Ann Marie O’Connell, Colleen Felong, and his cherished twin brother, John “Jack” Kane. He is survived by his loving children: daughter Jennifer Disotell (Tim), sons Tim Kane (Joni) and Daniel Kane (Chihaya); stepchildren Jennifer Anderson (John), JJ McHale (Kelley), and Courtney Ness (Shane). He leaves behind a legacy of love through his 16 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter, Jenny Lynn all of whom brought endless joy to his life.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at St. Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church, 3200 Brooks Drive SW, Snellville, GA 30078. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed on YouTube St. Oliver Plunkett Snellville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause dear to Eugene’s heart.
