Sumter, SC ………. Anne-Marie Marcelle Jones (Nee Marchand) died peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of September 15, 2025, following a long illness.

She was born on Dec 3, 1942, in Meulles, Calvados, in the Normandy region of France to the late Robert Theodore Marchand and Marie-Therese Odile Rameyssen. She became a Naturalized US Citizen on November 13, 1984, and she lived most of her life in the United States, but she continued to make periodic visits to her relatives in France.

Many will remember her dedicated work as a French teacher at Thomas Sumter Academy in Sumter, SC from Aug 1995 to Aug 2011.

She is survived by a daughter Micheline Mary Callicott (Nee Phelan), a grandson, Theodore Callicott, and her current husband, Michael D. Jones.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, a sister, Micheline Marchand Pennec, and her former husband Thomas E. Phelan.
