Brian Harold Boardman

brian boardman

December 29, 1940 ~ August 19, 2023

Born in: Liverpool, England
Resided in: Lawrenceville, Georgia

Brian was born in Liverpool, England to the late John Henry Boardman and Dorothy Dennis Boardman. He obtained his U.S. citizenship in 1974, having already served in the U. S. Air Force for 4 years during the Vietnam era. He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother John Boardman.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia Duncan, his daughter Dorothy (Shane) Blocker of Crawford, Georgia, his son Bill Boardman (Shannon) of Dundee, Michigan, his sister Pat Ward of Frasierville, Canada, brother Michael Willingham of Canada, and grandchildren Madison, Konner, Shelby, Bailee, and Jaxson Blocker, Ethan and Zachary Boardman, and “adopted” grandson, William (Ashley) Beard and their daughter Bella
of Athens, GA.

Brian and Marcia met in 2005 at Marcia’s first square dance class in Winder, GA. They spent all of their 17 years of marriage square dancing all around the country as well as right here in the local clubs. Covid was the only thing that slowed them down! And Brian loved Christmas – our yard was always lit up with lights and we had a beautiful Christmas Village Inside even though we often spent Christmas away from
home.

In the event anyone would want to make a contribution in Brian’s honor, he supported St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or select your own favorite charity. Contribution not being requested – just love and/or prayers as he was a very special, very loved man.

  1. Dear Marcia: How we are going to miss gentle, sweet, always smiling Brian! From the time you two first joined us on the dance floor — all eager smiles — at the 2007 Myrtle Beach Ball, we knew it was going to be a wonderful friendship. And it was. Dancing with you two was the best, and we cherish our friendship. May you find peace and comfort in knowing that he warmed so many hearts along his path.

  7. CandleImageMarcia, I always enjoyed visiting with you and Brian. Brian always seemed content and pleasant and found the humor in everyday life, and more importantly he seemed to really enjoy his life with you. And I enjoyed that marvelous British accent of his. 9. Bill and I are deeply saddened to hear of Brian’s passing. Brian always made a point and effort to speak with us. You both were avid supporters of the Hotlanta Squares. As a group we will never be able to Thank YOU both. We will truly miss Brian and his string of dangles he would always wear at every dance. I hoping the next dangle within his chain will be labeled from “Heaven”. Our hearts and love goes out to you, Marcia. BIG HUGS!! from Danny Miller and Bill Cosmas.

  10. Dear Marcia: It has been maybe almost 20 years since I met Brian and you, he was memorable because he wore those wonderful kidskin gloves for dancing. He was funny and fun, and a delightful conversationalist. Mindful of the comfort of others. My condolences on Brian’s passing.
