Carolyn Elaine Millen, age 63 of Flowery Branch, GA, passed away on January 1, 2022. She was preceded in death by her father, William Gordon Bell, Jr. and her late husband, Larry Wright. She is survived by her husband, Michael Millen of Flowery Branch, GA, her mother Janette Bell of Lawrenceville, GA, her sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Ellis Francis of Lawrenceville, GA, her niece and nephew-in-law, Elizabeth and William Bohn of Auburn, GA, her grand nephews, TJ and Mason Peek of Auburn, GA, and her stepson and daughter-in-law, Justin Millen and Cindy Asencios Millen of Tucker, GA.
Carolyn was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, nurse, and friend. She was a native of Stone Mountain, GA and graduated from Clarkston High School. She went to her mother’s Alma Mater, Georgia Baptist Nursing School, where she obtained her RN. She earned her BSN from Emory and her MSN from Georgia State. Then she began her doctorate at MCG in Augusta, Georgia and finally concluded her status as a student when she earned her Doctorate in Hospital Administration from Phoenix University while living in Washington. Carolyn’s work resume rivals her impressive education. As a nurse, she enjoyed working in both the Emergency Room and Operating Room. She later worked as a Nurse Practitioner for a group of cardiothoracic surgeons before moving to an administrative role as Director of the Operating Room. She concluded her impressive medical career as Director of Northwest Hospital & Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Throughout her career she was published in medical journals and presented abstracts at medical seminars. You can see why her proud father affectionately nicknamed her “Executive Daughter.”
After being widowed at age 42, Carolyn was fortunate enough to find love again with Michael Millen. They moved to Anacortes, Washington on an island north of Seattle and were wed in 2006. While in Washington, Carolyn enjoyed boating with her husband and cherished miniature schnauzer, Kady. She enjoyed shopping with her mom, sister, and niece on her frequent trips to Atlanta. Even though Carolyn had moved far from Georgia, she continued to be an avid Bulldog fan. In 2020, Carolyn and Mike moved to Flowery Branch, Georgia where she began her early retirement close to her extended family. She enjoyed spending time reading, playing cards with her husband, and crocheting afghans for people she loved. Carolyn will be missed by the numerous lives she touched. She was an amazing woman who will always be loved and remembered.

I’m sorry to hear of Carolyn’s passing. I still remember all the visits when we were young. I wish we had stayed in contact as we grew older.
May our loving Heavenly Father comfort and keep you in your time of grief.
She was a horrible OR director at Seattle Children’s Hospital. She was mean, vindictive, and didn’t care about anyone that had to be under her supervision.
