Born in: Ettlingen, Germany
Resided in: Lawrenceville, Georgia

Ingeburg Maria Mehrmann Scheel, 85, of Lawrenceville, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025.

Ingeburg was born in Ettlingen, Germany to Albert Mehrman and his wife, Louisa  on May 13, 1940.

She married Michael Lee Scheel from Waterloo, Iowa  on October 16, 1963 in Karlsruhe, Germany. Shortly thereafter she migrated to Rochester, MN with her husband and  young son, Michael.  On June 27, 1968, Ingeburg and her husband were pleased to announce the adoption of young Michael by Michael Scheel. It was a joyous memory of hers, almost as important as when her son and she became Citizens of the United States on August 22, 1969.

Upon moving to Lawrence from Monroe, GA Ingeburg became an active member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She served as a member of the Welcoming Committee for many years and was instrumental in planning and coordinating the once famous gourmet dinners auctioned at Church picnics from years gone by. Ingeburg was a wonderful cook and baker. She relished being involved in these events and controlling the cooking!

Being an excellent seamstress, later in life she took up quilting with the Quilts of Valor Foundation where she made exquisite American themed quilts to give to wounded servicemen and Veterans touched by war. Providing these comforting and healing handmade quilts was another of her many passions and brought her great joy. When she wasn’t doing these things, she could be found in the Adoration Chapel or reading a good book.  However, Ingeburg’s favorite thing to do was spending time with her loved ones and friends, always looking forward to their visits.

In addition to her loving husband, Michael, she was preceded in death by her son, Ralph Michael Scheel

Rest in peace, Ms. Ingeburg. You will be deeply missed by all who knew  you. Enter now into paradise where there is no weeping or sorrow,  no pain, only fullness of peace and joy forever with God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and all the angels and saints.
