Jean Ann Holt, lovingly known as “Ann,” passed away on June 6, 2025, as a resident of Lawrenceville, GA, at the age of 88. Born on July 24, 1936, in Wilmington, North Carolina, Ann carried the warmth of the coast in her heart throughout her life.

Ann never met a stranger—her genuine spirit and kind nature naturally drew people in. She had a remarkable ability to form lifelong friendships and nurture them with love and laughter. A devoted sister, mother, and Nana, Ann poured her heart into her family. She made everyone around her feel deeply loved and cared for, and her presence left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She loved nothing more than spending time with her family, bragging about her grandchildren, and soaking up the simple joys of life. Her favorite pastimes included watching Yellowstone marathons, tending to her plants and flowers, and enjoying the peace of the beach. One of her favorite getaways were always the all too rare trips to Disneyworld. Ann also had a special place in her heart for animals—especially the strays she welcomed into her home with open arms.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Dwight and Jean McEwen. She is survived by her beloved sister, Dottie Larimore (Dave); her daughters, Beverly Holt and Kay Britt (Chris); her grandchildren, Jennifer Truelove, Caitlin Meads, and Alex Britt; and her great-grandsons, Greyson Britt and Danny Truelove.

Ann’s family will always remember her laughter, loyalty, and unconditional love. She was the heart of her family and the kind of friend everyone hopes to have.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to celebrate Ann’s life by supporting the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine. Please make checks payable to the UGA Foundation and in the memo line note “Vet Med – in memory of Jean Ann Holt.” Checks should be mailed to the UGA Foundation, 1 Press Pl Ste 101, Athens, GA 30601. You may also visit their website to make a gift online.

A private oceanside service will be held at a later date to honor Ann’s life and the beauty she brought to so many.
