Joan Kalkbrenner, age 94, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away on September 25, 2025. She was born on March 13, 1931, in Litchfield, Illinois.

Joan earned her associate degree from the Illinois Community College System and went on to live a life of creativity, service, and dedication. She volunteered at Cannon Church, where she supported the employment assistance program by creating and typing résumés, as well as interviewing and writing features on new residents moving into Laurel Grove.

A woman of many talents, Joan worked as a real estate broker with Northside Realty and was also employed with the Gwinnett County School System. Earlier in life, she modeled for advertising campaigns with Bell Telephone, Union Electric, Purina, and Monsanto.

She was a woman of diverse interests who enjoyed reading, writing, antiques, and herb gardening. Her eye for beauty and detail extended into photography and her lifelong love of learning.

Faith played an important role in her life. She was a devoted member of both Cannon United Methodist Church and St. Raphael Catholic Church.

Joan’s greatest joy was her family. She raised five children in St. Louis, Missouri: Sheryl A. Lammert (Don), Anne M. Taylor (Bob), Mark R. Davis (Pam), Mary E. Madincea (Dan), and Stephen J. Davis (Valarie). She was a proud grandmother of 16 and great-grandmother of 7, each of whom brought joy to her life and carried forward her legacy of love.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Kalkbrenner; her brother, Charlie Wagner; and her parents, Owen McDonald Wagner and Lois Wagner.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Gwinnett Memorial Park, 925 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30046, with Deacon Mike Bryne officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one’s favorite charity in Joan’s memory.

Joan will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, whose creativity, kindness, and faith touched the lives of all who knew her.
