Martha Patricia Usry Chitwood

Martha Patricia Usry Chitwood, age 78, of Marietta, formerly of Atlanta, passed peacefully into her heavenly home on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

Born on October 27, 1946, in Gibson, Georgia, Patricia was the beloved daughter of the late Ligue Gibson and Lucille Williams Usry. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 42 years, Mark H. Chitwood Jr., and her sisters Eliese Irby, Inez Current, Mary Hinton, Mildred Hinton, and Medra Bunch.

Mrs. Chitwood led a life marked by hard work, resilience, and kindness. She spent much of her professional career as an apartment manager and also worked earlier in her life for Fox 5 News. She was a woman of strong Baptist faith and found joy in simple pleasures—shopping, attending concerts, and especially listening to her favorite artists, Frank Sinatra and Tom Jones.

She is survived by her loving brother Bobby Usry and his wife Nancy, sisters-in-law Mari Chitwood and Patricia Rittenhouse (Walter), and her lifelong and dearest friend, Connie Bedell. She also leaves behind her dear friend Anthony Smith, along with several cherished nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Wages and Sons Stone Mountain Chapel, located at 1040 Main Street, Stone Mountain, Georgia 30083, with Dr. Dan Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Melwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the hour of service at the funeral home.
